Picture Perfect- Newborn Photo

All photography is impressive to me. I love to look at images that people capture- just moments in time. I think that all photography takes so much talent and is an art form of its own - however, newborn photography is on a whole other level.  The day we took Luke and Libby to have their pics taken, they were 5 weeks old, and boy did I have a new respect for the patience and gentle touch of a newborn photographer.  Brandi would wait for just the right moment to snap a few shots of our two bundles! She was so gracious as she waited while we fed them, burped them, changed them multiple times etc... She would let them lay on their own and then as she says "make it pretty" by moving one finger at a time to get the shot she wanted.  I had one or two "mom" moments with a few tears as I stared at those two faces realizing, "those babies belong to me."  Wow, God is good.  Thank you Brandi for blessing us with timeless photos of our twins. They will be forever cherished.

At the End of the Day...

Well, it's safe to say that things have changed.  The house offically looks like an unkept daycare.  2 of most things, not everything.  2 swings, 2 bouncers, a double boppy (amazing) it's actually called a Twin Z pillow. This picture is even a week or two out of date because the coffee table is long gone :)  I had to take this picture to remember the really crazy days when you have no time to even pick up after yourself.  Or, just too tired to do so!  I think if you look closely there might be a used diaper or two hiding!?!  But as my mom quotes "babies don't keep" and at the end of the day, the mess doesn't matter.  She was so right, as mom's usually are :)

Mother, O' Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth.
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due,
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek - peekaboo.

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew,
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo.
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow,
But children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Feelin' the Love

One thing is for sure, these kiddos are not lacking in the hug and snuggles department!  You guys even had a visit from your Grand Nana and Grand Papa from Whidbey Island in Washington.  Thank you to friends and family for loving on these babies and giving them tons of TLC :)

Meet Luke- Master of the Faces

Luke Jacob - you make us laugh every day!  You are such a boy and you have the best faces.

- You like to eat a LOT
- You are a great big brother to Libby, always "watching" her
- You have huge eyes, which makes your faces and expressions even better
- You are very alert and aware of what's going on (often when you should be napping also :)
- You have a very strong head for being so young
- Your schedule is very predictable, and you are easy to please
- You like to play and your favorite toy is "firefly guy" your mobile
- You were the first to smile

Luke Jacob, we love you! Here is what you have been up to as a newborn:

Meet Libby- Miss Priss with a capital P

My precious Libby girl.  There is no question that you are a girl, and this is why:

- You usually cross your ankles/legs- so lady like
- You like to be held- a LOT
- You love to snuggle, especially in daddy's arms
- You do not like to have a wet ot dirty diaper AT ALL
- You have little rose bud lips
- You prefer to only wear pink- okay this might be influenced by mom...
- You like to put your hands up by your face, almost like you are posing
- You like the camera
- You like the attention, no problem looking cute
- You think you should not have to wait and should always be first,ie: first to have a bath at night, first to be picked up, lady's first right? .. however, you have a twin- so waiting it part of the deal :)
- You cant leave the house without a bow or headband, acccessories are VIP
- You can be a little bit of drama, but you usually save it for me- your mama!  Your daddy's little girl and can do no wrong, of course

We love you Libby Jean- this is what you've been up to as a newborn:

Sleeping Beauty

The question I had myself, and often get asked by friends is: "Do they wake each other up?" It's a great question and hard to describe other than the following picture. This pretty much sums it up :)
Side note: Please don't think I am a bad mother for taking the time to take this picture while Luke was crying so hard... I just had to capture the memory for their sake one day.  Thank goodness for cameras on cell phones!

Triple Crown

For Pete and I, we have such wonderful memories of being at Baylor University.  One thing we both participated in was greek life.  It's pretty big at Baylor and we have so many friends from those organizations.  Something Pete and I remember is what they refer to as the "Triple Crown."  It was said that a sorority or fratenity had the "Triple Crown" for that year if they managed to win intramurals, SING (campus wide singing/dancing competition- pretty big deal) and float (building a huge float for the homecoming parade).  You had to get 1st place in all three of those events in order to have the title of Triple Crown. Well with that being said, Pete and I have now adopted a new meaning to Triple Crown in our house.  It's much simplier and not as exciting...
 1) Eating at least 2 meals that day  2) Taking a shower  3) Sleeping
The interesing part of life with these twins is when you are given a choice to complete one of the above, what do you choose?  If you have an hour where they are both napping and sleeping soundly at the same time, what is most important? Or necessary?  Pete would most often choose #3- sleep.  I would most often choose #1- eat.  Which means on any given day in the Robertson household, no one has showered :)

2+2=4

Your dad would say that I was overreacting, but some part of me knew that you guys were on your way... and fast. Wednesday night before I delivered,  I was with two Baylor best friends, Laura and Natalie, eating oh so healthy cheese fries, a college favorite and tradition with these two besties.  By the time I made it home, I kept telling your dad that I was feeling "different." By the next morning, I was at my twice weekly dr check up, but never came back home... until 4 days later, with both of you!  I was checked into the hospital that morning and that night you guys arrived!  Family drove in from Houston and everyone was there to greet your dad in the waiting room as he proudly announced that Luke Jacob was born first, at 6 pounds 2 ounces, and Elizabeth, "Libby" Jean was born second, at 4 pounds 14 ounces.
There are no words to describe the first time I looked in your eyes, or held each of you, but the only way I know how to explain it is... it was worth every single tear that was ever shed as we dreamed of you, and waited for what was only the hope of you. On August 2, 2012 our family of 2 became a family of 4. And life as we know it will never be the same...

To blog or not to blog?

Hmmm..  a blog.  I absolutley love to read the blogs of friends and see updates about their days with family and friends.  I also admit to following blogs of people I do not even know, but find enjoyment out of their adventures of sharing their stories, or cooking/crafty blogs etc... So, when these babies were on their way, I started considering writing a blog of my own.  The only problem was and still is... what do I have to say?  And is it really worth writing down?  I decided that for no reason other than wanting to remember the details and capture the memories of our family as it changes, that I would attempt to be a blogger :)  I love that blogs can be bound into books, and therefore I dedicate this blog and the inspirtation of beginning to blog, to my sweet twins, Luke and Libby.  May these words and pictures bring hours of enjoyment as one day you will look back at the sweet sweet beginning of our family, August 2, 2012,  when God brought us you.
