There's No Place Like Home

I forgot to write about our frist trip home! They say there's no place like home, and that is so true for Pete and I.  Both of our families live within 20 minutes of one another which makes visiting really easy and really fun! You kiddos did great on the car ride, 5 hours there with stops to feed but otherwise happy campers :)

Aunt Angelina played with you non stop and helped A TON! She gave you a bath and would pick out your outfits etc....

The Hammond girls came over to cuddle and play!

Ms Becky came and helped feed you guys one day and we got to hear about Jennifer's wedding!

You and your brother love the mobile that Angelina is showing you! We call it "firefly guy!" We need a whole other post on the wonderful investment of firefly!

Leggett family! Pastor Jim, Mrs. Lisa and Grace :)

 Annette Walker meeting Luke

Mrs. Laura Campbell snuggling you Lukie :)

It was so great to be home and visit our house with these kiddos! Thank you mom and dad for helping with the babies all week and even watching them all night while I slept like 10 hours straight! Thank you for having cribs set up and the house in full twin mode- we kind of take over but its so fun!

Sic Em' Bears

You babies are green and gold proud for sure!  We took the babes to Baylor Homecoming to visit with friends and old roommates and participate in the Baylor traditions of the homecoming parade etc.. We got to eat with what we call our Supper Club friends and get all our kiddos together at once- only Brian and Mary Lou were not there this year, but we got to see them in the summer time which was wonderful to have is all in one spot.  Dear friends for life for sure.  Luke and Libby didnt seem to be too impressed by the homecoming floats in the parade or the marching band etc.. but being held and cuddled by friends was right up their alley.  We took some time to sit on the swing where Pete proposed to me :) Our very favorite green and gold swing on campus by the education building under the big trees. It was a sweet moment to hold our blessings and reflect on how God always has our future and His best plans already set for us.  All we have to do is listen and follow.  Very thankful for the memory of bringing these kiddos to what might be their college of choice one day? Let the brainwashing begin!!

Play Dates

How old do you have to be to have a "play date?" Does sitting and watching others play or being held and cuddled by other moms count? I vote yes!  We've had a great time as we have begun to adventure out of the house to visit friends in their homes and hang with the big kids!

Thanks Megan for all the amazing twin advice from pregnancy all the way thru- you are correct, it is getting easier :) Her twins, Maddox and McKinley are 14 months olders and Luke and Libby. Thank you for blessing us with advice, support, and friendship!  McKinley offered to share her apples with the babies as she handed them to Luke and Libby- so sweet, sharing already! Unfortunately, we had to decine and stick to our bottles, boring :(

We also went to hang with precious Hudson Merkord, son of my college roomie and amazing best friend, Natalie. Hudson is just about 1 year older that the twins, and he is a doll. He is so patient and caring with the babies.  When he comes to our house, he just pats the babies in their swings, and when we go to his house he was giving them little hugs and kisses before they were even out of their carseats.  Such a kind hearted kiddo.  Cant wait for Luke and Hudson to grow up together- Libby can hang too of course.

Fall Fun

We have had family coming and going and making such an effort to spend time with these munchkins. Aunt Pam comes over on Sundays to help and play with you guys! She often runs to the grocery store for me and brings lunch and spoils us with her time and TLC. Thanks Pammy for all your help.  Uncle Steven came up from med school to visit us at the end of October! That was a treat because med school studying and the pace of tests and labs in CRAZY! We are so proud of you Stevie, thanks so much for coming. And Aunt Jane was just here last weekend for a friend's wedding and stayed with us to help with the babes and helped with their pictures being taken on Sunday :)
Thanks for visiting us Aunt Pamela, Uncle Steven and Aunt Jane, we appreciate you all so very much.

1st Halloween

Okay kids- Your first halloween was pretty comical to say the least. It was great weather but dad was out of town on a business trip so your sweet Aunt Pamela and her roomie, Courtney came over to help :) We got you dressed in stages, one item at a time, because you were not too in love with your hats... however, I would say the hats made the costume for sure! Some friends threw us a darling Thing 1 and Thing 2 couples baby shower during our pregnancy and that gave us the idea for these costumes- the onsies are from the hostesses, Meagan and Melissa!
Libby- you spit up all over yourself about 2 minutes after being outside, and Luke you just stared at all the kids coming by with your big eyes :)
Pam and Courtney took pictures of you guys and passed out candy for us! You just sat in your bouncers and greeted kids.  Next year, you will trick or treat for the first time, but this was just as fun for your mommy!

Hopefully I can get my hands on a few pics with your aunt pamela and courtney!! :)

True Confessions of a Twin Mom

Hmmm...

I think this post will have to be a continued entry, as each week I realize there is something random or crazy that I do.  The beginning was more about survival with two babies, now it's just comical!

A few things that come to mind that I thoroughly admit to doing in the last 12 weeks:

- mixing up the babies cries, and therefore feeding/caring for the wrong one in the middle of the night
- using any color on any kid- Luke has used a pink swaddle and/or pink blanket many times :)
- sharing passifiers between the kids- I KNOW- this is horrible, but sometimes, you just grab what's closest to you
- falling asleep while feeding them
- washing bottles by a very fast rinse, rather than a deep scrub
- setting up our family room in activity stations- kinda like teaching kindergarten all over again :) Gotta rotate!
- changing diapers anywhere around the house, ANYWHERE!
- you guys are napping, cookies for breakfast? why not?
-  using a written out checklist in my diaper bag to make sure we have what we need x2 anytime we leave the house- better safe than sorry- although it does sound a little paranoid I know :)
- Last time I cooked a real meal?- no idea, but for sure not after August 2nd!  Working towards that!

Its Time to Move Kids... to the Nursery :)

Time to use those cribs kiddos- about a month ago we officially moved you two to your big kid cribs where you basically take up one little corner of the huge crib matress.  However, it is so fun to see you both swaddled in there cozy and snug.  Your cribs were a gift from Mimi and PapaJ (Lomax) and it's so fun to see you sleep soundly.  The key is, how did we get you from our room to yours?  It was a marathon not a sprint.  People were right, we would sleep better and you would sleep better if you were not in the same room as us.  And you were starting to wake up each other.  Luke you would squirm around and bang your sister in the head or push her up against the side of the bassinet.  Which usually resulted in some outcry, we would get up and take a look and you had this is expression on your face like "I didn't do it, why are you looking at me?" Regardless, it was time to give you the boot. Stage 1- we moved you to the sunroom.  How far is that from mom and dad's room? Oh, it shares a wall.  So we left the door open and basically you were just a little farther away,,, but then Stage 2- was the study.  We wheeled the bassinet and sound machine in there, and that was on the other side of the house. You guys loved it in there because it was nice and dark.  However, Stage 3- was your nursery and once we got used to you being there it was worth it.  You both sleep great.  The only issue is, that I stare at the monitor ALL NIGHT LONG. I watch to see if you are going to get up, if you are moving, if you are breathing, which in turn equals little sleep regardless of how much you get up to eat :) Not sure how we will ever let you go to Kindergarten if letting you sleep in your own nursery was hard... but one thing at a time.  For now, sweet dreams my little newborns.
